Iago was sitting on my lap, then Willoughby walked by, and I swear he glared at us. Wills doesn’t even like sitting on my lap that much. Cat rivalry: Scary and nonsensical.

Anonymous asked: Do Wills and Iago get along?

They do! Well, they tolerate each other. They don’t really fight, although they get into a small tussle every now and then. They don’t really like sharing, but luckily for them, there are two of us to love on them. Sometimes they curl up together, too, but I wouldn’t call them friends. I wouldn’t call them enemies either, though.

The cats have already gotten into a tussle today and Iago tried so persistently to eat my cereal that I ended up spilling milk down my shirt while trying to get away. I don’t know if there’s a cat equivalent of the full moon, but whatever it is, it’s occurring today.

Anonymous asked: how often do you change the litter box? what kind of litter do you use? do you have a scratching posts? are your cats declawed? are the lap cats? do they like to play? what are their favorite toys? do they like catnip? do they sleep on your bed with you? ~*~random cat questions~*~
  1. We completely change the litter about every week and a half.
  2. We use paper litter made from recycled newspaper! It’s clean and not smelly.
  3. Nope, they’re not declawed.
  4. Iago is probably more of a lap cat than Wills, since he loooooves cuddling, but Wills can be pretty cuddly when he wants to be.
  5. They love to play! Willoughby’s favorite toys are things like bags that he can jump into, and Iago’s favorite is a feather toy with a jingle bell.
  6. They adore catnip. They don’t get it often, but every once in awhile we’ll buy a new toy mouse or something that’s got some catnip in it.
  7. Yes, sometimes they sleep on the bed with us! But usually only one at a time. They don’t really share.

After I got up and made sure the door was locked, Wills followed me through the apartment as I headed to the bedroom, hunkered down and sneaking as if maybe I wouldn’t notice he was there. Is there a bounty on my head? Should I be worried? I’m afraid to sleep.

The kits were largely unimpressed with my rendition of “Run and Tell That” just now. I get that there’s a certain…ironic element to my performance, but I’m in such a Hairspray mood today and they are being such buzzkills.

delanceybrothers asked: Does Iago try to play with scout ever?

Sometimes the cats like to sniff around her cage and see what the tiny little thing’s up to, but mostly they ignore her.

I just conducted an experiment.

I dragged a cardboard box (from when I moved) out of the closet and set it up in the middle of the living room. First I put Wills in it and he immediately jumped out and ran away. Then I tried to put Iago in it, and he starfished until I forced his paws in, and he walked in a circle before jumping out. Then I put Scout inside and she ran up to the side to sniff it, then kind of looked around, bored.

Then I put Kurt insi —

Kidding.

My hypothesis was correct: Our pets were unimpressed with the box.
